Longborough Village Shop AGM – Postponed

Due to the unprecedented circumstances we currently find ourselves in the L&SVSA (Longborough & Sezincote Village Shop Association Ltd) AGM, scheduled for Tuesday 7th April, is postponed indefinitely. We will be in touch once a revised date is set.

In the meantime, I thought it would be useful to provide a brief overview of the discussion our team had planned for the AGM. In 2019 there was a lot of change across the entire team – committee members, volunteers, employees and the manager, who actually started work on the day of last year’s AGM! I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone past and present who have all played their part to help continue to make our shop sustainable.

The accounts for 2019 show a profit of £5.8 k versus a loss the previous year of £11.7 k – this is an incredible achievement by the entire team but I would particularly like to call out our manager, Carolyn, as the real catalyst behind this turnaround. She has brought all her previous experience to bear, alongside her real understanding of our community and customers, to achieve this.

The challenge is now to move forward and build on this success over the coming year. In order to achieve this, we need to build the team and have ongoing engagement across the community. We hope you as customers are experiencing the benefits of the changes we have made to date and we look forward to sharing even more over the coming months, albeit at a slower pace than originally anticipated for obvious reasons.

During these unprecedented times, the shop is literally proving to be a lifeline for the village and I hope this sense of community will continue once we are through this situation, thereby helping to ensure that we can retain our community shop for many years to come.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support and please stay well.
