REMINDER – Christmas and New Year refuse collections

CDC refuse collections over Christmas and New Year are:

1. Revised Collection Days:

To accommodate the Christmas and New Year public holidays, waste, recycling and food waste collections from Wednesday 25 December will be running one or two working days late. You can view the full schedule by clicking here   Normal schedules will resume on Tuesday, January 7, 2025.

2. Garden Waste Service Suspension:

The garden waste collection service will pause from Tuesday, December 24, 2024, resuming on Tuesday, January 7, 2025. This allows additional resources to manage the increased recycling and refuse during the holidays.

3. Additional Waste Allowance:

To help households manage excess waste, crews will accept up to two extra refuse bags on the first collection after Christmas.

4. Christmas Tree Recycling:

If you subscribe to the garden waste service, you can leave your real Christmas tree at the kerbside for collection. Please follow these steps:

  • Cut your tree into manageable sections and place the pieces in your green bin, ensuring the lid can close.
  • For smaller trees (6 feet and under), cut them in half.
  • For trees over 6 feet, cut them into three sections.

To make it easier for all households to dispose of their trees, the Council is also partnering again with three local garden centres to provide convenient drop off points:

  • Dobbies Garden Centre, Cirencester, GL7 6EU
  • Batsford Garden Centre, Batsford, GL56 9QB
  • Hillier Garden Centre, Lechlade, GL7 3DP
